The fellowship will be awarded for the period of June 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023. The selected artists will be staying in Windhoek, Namibia.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Akademie Schloss Solitude\u00c2\u00a0together with the\u00c2\u00a0National Art Gallery of Namibia\u00c2\u00a0and the\u00c2\u00a0Goethe-Institut Namibia\u00c2\u00a0is establishing a new residency program that will be committed to a long-term artistic and cultural exchange between Namibia and Germany. With this call for applications, we will offer artists from Germany, especially persons of African descent living in Germany, the opportunity to apply for a fellowship in Namibia.<\/p>\n

The residencies are organized in the framework of a two-part workshop series curated by Namibian artist and historian Memory Biwa, which initiates a collective approach to the history of colonial relations between Namibia and Germany and develops new artistic narratives on this topic.<\/p>\n

Artists across the fields of visual arts (also encompassing performance, sound, and socially-engaged art), literature\/journalism (encompassing prose, poetry, as well as digital journalism), and digital practice (encompassing digital art, computing, hacking, gaming) can apply for a four-month residency. The fellowship will provide the opportunity to engage artistically with the project\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s topics restitution\/reparation, cultures of remembrance, and digital colonialism. You are welcome to apply until January 10, 2023.
