The West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival returns this spring for its 9th edition for a two-day event on April 14 & 15, 2023. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re looking for unique, boundary-pushing works in video, animation, and film.<\/p>\n

Theme: Indeterminate Self
\nIn addition to the standard categories listed, we invite time-based works that center on the theme: Indeterminate Self. In the wake of a global pandemic, and facing an uncertain social future, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re curious about the impact of recent global events on the way we define ourselves and our boundaries physically, socially, psychologically, and spiritually.<\/p>\n
Performance and Media Exhibition:
\nThis year we are also excited to accept submissions to a one-day media and performance exhibition. As we begin to emerge more fully from pandemic restrictions and strive to regain some sense of in-person, corporeal, engagement, we invite proposals for performance works that interrogate the relationship between the body and technology, intimacy and telepresence. Submissions may include theatre, dance, sound, augmented or virtual reality or other performance works that incorporate audiovisual media, as well as remote, online or otherwise telematic performances. REQUIREMENTS\/AGREEMENTS:
\nMaximum running time of 15 minutes. Works must have been completed after January 1, 2021. 8$ per entry. Students: Free – with valid ID. Maximum of 2 entries per person. Separate entry form and fee required for each entry. Applicants agree to allow festival organizers use of accepted works for all promotional materials and events. Deadline for entry: March 10, 2023. Notification: on or before March 20, 2023.<\/p>\n
