{"id":4961,"date":"2013-03-16T11:03:08","date_gmt":"2013-03-16T10:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmartproject.net\/netex\/?p=4961"},"modified":"2013-03-16T11:03:08","modified_gmt":"2013-03-16T10:03:08","slug":"call-videosexuberant-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/netex.nmartproject.net\/?p=4961","title":{"rendered":"call: Videos\/Exuberant Politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Call for entries<br \/>\n<strong>Deadline: 21 April 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Call For Film\/Video Programs: Exuberant Politics<br \/>\nAn exuberant politics is exhortative, celebratory, evocative.<br \/>\nIt is foot-stomping, lung-splitting, booty-shaking.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in your face, your backyard, your neighborhood, your watershed, your continent.<\/p>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s planetary, and it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s right here.<\/p>\n<p>It is direct, but it likes to dance.<\/p>\n<p>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s exuberant, and it starts with you.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Exuberant Politics\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is issuing a call for film\/video programmers, activist archivists, and DIY curators to propose 70-90 minute programs of moving image work featuring exuberant, vivacious, and creative responses to historical and contemporary political issues.<\/p>\n<p>Proposed programs could map a historical arc or be based around specific topics, like \u00e2\u20ac\u0153exuberant pacifism,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153rocking reproductive righteousness.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d We are particularly interested in proposals that combine projects by politically-engaged artists\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 with creative activism undertaken by people who do not identify as artists. Programs may include performance or protest actions documented by video, as well as work taking film\/video as its primary medium.<\/p>\n<p>A total of three programs will be selected to screen at the University of Iowa in Fall 2013, with potential for additional screenings to be arranged in consultation with programmers and artists. Selected programmers will receive a $250 honorarium and up to $400 for screening fees.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Exuberant Politics\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is a yearlong series of programs organized by University of Iowa faculty and Iowa City artists and arts organizations. The \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Exuberant Politics\u00e2\u20ac\u009d film series is funded by the University of Iowa Museum of Art.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals should include a 250 word description of the program, a tentative list of works (with short synopses and runtimes), and a 250 word narrative bio of the programmer.
