\nMedia and video art exhibition
\n9\/10 May 2014<\/p>\n

In May 2014, vkunst Frankfurt will
\nonce again explore and show current
\ntrends and tendencies in video art.
\nFor the sixth time, almost all galleries
\nas well as some shops in Frankfurt\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcs
\nFahrgasse will be host of the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153roofless
\nexhibition hall\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, right next to the
\nFrankfurt Museum f\u00c3\u00bcr Moderne Kunst.
\nUnder the title \u00e2\u20ac\u0153mon amie \u00e2\u20ac\u201c l\u00e2\u20ac\u2122image\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nthe curators, Christoph von L\u00c3\u00b6w and
\nAndreas Greulich, inquire the artistic
\nproduction of the 21st century. For two
\nevenings, from 8:00 pm \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 12:00 am, the
\nartists will show projections, interactive
\ninstallations and animated computer
\nart in the gallery windows. Taking
\nplace annually, vkunst frankfurt
\nprovides a constant platform for
\nboth national and international media
\nartists.<\/p>\n

Motive 2014:
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u017emon amie \u00e2\u20ac\u201c l\u00e2\u20ac\u2122image\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nWe live in pictures. They are a part of
\nevery life, and everyone has built his
\nor her personal relationship with
\nthem. In visual art, reality and fiction
\nbecome pictorial. The artist\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s results
\nare manifold and direct. The picture
\nin itself can be both friend and enemy.
\nIt is part of the family and of life.
\nThis is particularly true in the artist\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s
\nview and phantasy. The artists work
\nwith pictures in their heads every day,
\nin nature, on the wall in front of their
\neyes. Friendships and relationships
\nform. If one separates from one\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s
\nwork, the putative friendship lasts.
\nTo a friend one may say everything,
\nask him everything, love and hate
\nhim; he can be beautiful or ugly, boring
\nor exciting. Which friend do I prefer
\nto be seen with and which friendship
\nis too intimate for public disclosure,
\nor are there no boundaries at
\nall?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153mon amie \u00e2\u20ac\u201c l\u00e2\u20ac\u2122image\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s title
\nof vkunst frankfurt. It is in its nature
\nthat art is primarily a visual experience
\nfor the viewer. With this in
\nmind, the curators of vkunstfrankfurt,
\nChristoph von L\u00c3\u00b6w and Andreas
\nGreulich, let themselves be guided in
\ntheir concept of the sensuous-pictorial
\naspect of video art. What meaning
\nmay the image have for the video
\nartist? Is it just an end in itself and
\nappearances? Is the aesthetic deliberately
\nnegated, and the improvised,
\ni.e. the non-professional, emphasized?
\nWhat does the examination of
\nthe picture of our time place emphasis
\non? It is the task of vkunst frankfurt
\n2014 to investigate this.
\nvkunst award 2014 by
\nJochen Latz<\/p>\n

As in 2013, the media art prize
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153vkunst\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, donated by Jochen Latz
\nand endowed with 2.500,00 Euros,
\nwill be awarded.
\nAn independent jury of curators and
\nart theoreticians will choose the
\naward winner for the best exhibited
\nwork. Any recourse to legal action
\nshall be excluded.<\/p>\n

Entry details
\nThis call is open to all media artists.
\nEach artist may submit one work of art.
\nPlease send your submission on DVD,
\nCD-Rom or USB-stick by March 31st,
\n2014 to the address mentioned below.
\nImportant:
\nEach submission must include
\n– a digital copy of your work on DVD,
\nCD or USB-stick
\n– 3 stills (jpg, 300 dpi, max. 20×20 cm)
\n– a short description of your work and
\na short curriculum vitae (all together
\nno more than 800 characters).
\nIn case of acceptance, they will serve
\nas base material for the catalogue.
\nThe entry form must be completed and
\nsigned.
