OUR AIMS<br \/>\n\u00ef\u201a\u00b7 Promotion of video art and experimental audiovisual creation in Peru and other countries in Latin America.<br \/>\n\u00ef\u201a\u00b7 Opening of new spaces for the sharing of experiences between Latin American video artists and their colleagues from other parts of the world. Publicizing of Peruvian and Latin American video art throughout the world, showing recent examples of international video art in Peru.<br \/>\n\u00ef\u201a\u00b7 Raising awareness of new art media and languages among the Peruvian public.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>II. COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS<br \/>\nThe competition covers all countries of Latin America.<br \/>\nArtists from other countries may present their videos out of competition. Their works may be included in<br \/>\nthe festival&#8217;s special selections.<br \/>\nThe festival invites all individuals and groups wishing to present their video art and experimental<br \/>\naudiovisual creation in open competition, regardless of age, religion (or lack thereof), sexual preference,<br \/>\neducation or profession.<br \/>\nEach author or group may submit more than one video.<br \/>\nV. AWARD<br \/>\nAWARD FOR THE BEST LATIN AMERICAN VIDEO:<br \/>\nTrip to Madrid, to the &#8220;Proyector&#8221; Video Art Festival<br \/>\nand Universidad Complutense de Madrid<br \/>\nSponsored by:<br \/>\nThe competition may be declared void, at the discretion of the organizing committee.<br \/>\nThe jury may decide to award a prize to a sequence of videos by the same author, provided the videos<br \/>\ndisplay conceptual unity and their total duration does not exceed 15 minutes.<br \/>\nBesides the two winners, the jury will also choose the festival&#8217;s official selection, which will participate in<br \/>\nexchange programs and international screenings.<br \/>\nApart from the official selection, the organizing committee is also authorized to compile special curatorial<br \/>\nselections, focused on a common theme, upon request from different partner events, as part of the<br \/>\ninternational exchange program. The authors of the selected videos will be informed of the participation of<br \/>\ntheir works in special selections.<\/p>\n<p>VI. PRESENTATION OF VIDEO ENTRIES<br \/>\nDEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: AUGUST 31, 2014.<br \/>\nWe only accept single-channel videos.<br \/>\nThe competing videos need not be previously unseen. However, no work which has won a prize or<br \/>\nhas participated in an official selection of other festivals will be accepted.<br \/>\nMaximum length (including credits): 15 minutes.<br \/>\nLanguages: Videos with spoken text in a language other than Spanish or English must be subtitled in<br \/>\neither of those two languages (preferably in both).<br \/>\nReproduction and distribution rights: By submitting their videos to the festival, the authors<br \/>\nautomatically agree to the festival\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s right to reproduce, distribute and screen said material, which will be<br \/>\nsubject to the rules of Creative Commons (mode: Attribution-Noncommercial-ShareAlike 2.5:<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc-sa\/2.5\/)<br \/>\nAuthorship: The Festival cannot be held responsible for any conflict arising from disputes regarding the<br \/>\nauthorship of the videos submitted. The prize will be awarded to the person named on the registration<br \/>\nform as the individual responsible for the project, or to another participant of the project unanimously<br \/>\nassigned by the production group.<br \/>\nPseudonyms: The name of the author of the video (or individual responsible) may be replaced by a<br \/>\npseudonym on the entry form, should the contestant so wish.<br \/>\nVideos may be presented with the highest quality and lowest compression possible viainternet. The participating video must be available for online preview on YouTube, Vimeo or other video<br \/>\nserver. If you prefer to restrict access to your video, protect it with a password and send us the password together with the link.<br \/>\nParticipants must send the completed registration form, including the online link to their video, as an<br \/>\nattachment to the following e-mail address: festivalvideobabel@gmail.com. If an artist wishes to submit<br \/>\nmore than one video, one registration form for each work should be completed. The registration form is<br \/>\navailable in Word 97 format here.<br \/>\nThe authors of the selected videos (winners, official selection and special selections) will be asked<br \/>\nto send, via internet and within a week of selection, a copy of their work in standard format *.mov or<br \/>\n*.mp4 with the highest quality and lowest compression possible, a maximum size of 2 GB, frame height<br \/>\nnot less than 720 px. Authors will receive detailed instructions regarding the method for sending their<br \/>\nwork. The sending of work selected via the Internet will be free to the authors.<\/p>\n<p>VII. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA<br \/>\n\u00ef\u201a\u00b7 Importance and originality of the video and its conceptual and aesthetic development.<br \/>\n\u00ef\u201a\u00b7 Good knowledge and innovative use of audiovisual language.<br \/>\n\u00ef\u201a\u00b7 Technical quality and skill.<\/p>\n<p>VIII. JURY<br \/>\nThe festival prizes will be awarded by an international jury.<br \/>\nCommittee decisions are final and not open to appeal.<\/p>\n<p>IX. FINAL CEREMONY<br \/>\nThe festival final ceremony, with the announcement of the winners, will be held in the city of Cusco, Peru,<br \/>\nin November 2013.<\/p>\n<p>XI. SUBSEQUENT PUBLICITY<br \/>\nThe winning videos will be publicized screened to the public free of charge by the festival partner<br \/>\ninstitutions and in different countries, as well as in other video art and film events.<br \/>\nThe festival undertakes to promote and credit the authors of the videos during the video screenings.<br \/>\nBy submitting their videos to the festival, participants automatically accept the conditions set<br \/>\nout in this document.
