The festival intends to take place on every leap second<br \/>\nin the years to come. The first festival took place in 2012 and is<br \/>\ndocumented at <a href=\"http:\/\/noemata.net\/leapsec\/\">http:\/\/noemata.net\/leapsec\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This second festival marks the 26. leap second and will be arranged<br \/>\nthe 30th of June 2015 23:59:60 (UTC), lasting one second. During this<br \/>\nsecond all the works are exhibited, performed, and executed. The event<br \/>\nis documented afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>The festival focus is on the leap second as<br \/>\ni) deviation and glitch, a bug in the machination of time,<br \/>\nii) a reality-check and celebration (glitz) of natural cycles taking<br \/>\nplace at the moment when the ideal time we have on our clocks is<br \/>\nsynchronized with the real time based on the rotation of the earth;<br \/>\niii) precarity, an unpredictable and insecure condition, affecting<br \/>\nmaterial\/physical and social\/psychological welfare &#8211; from how this<br \/>\ninserted second wreaks havoc in computers worldwide, to how a technology<br \/>\n(of time and production) aggravate the precariat as social class;<br \/>\niv) a marginal and intermittent existence, short and discontinuous,<br \/>\nautonomous and freely self-inserted\/-exploited\/-realized\/-precarizated,<br \/>\nv) as art, out of time, out of order, out of line, a defiant leap;<br \/>\nvi) a school of sudden realization, perhaps &#8211; without past or future &#8211;<br \/>\nnot here, not now, not this, not that &#8211; letting time fall away, together<br \/>\nwith its minions &#8211; becoming vast and expansive beyond the seconds of the<br \/>\nwobbling earth &#8211; with the leap second as their paradox.<\/p>\n<p>See full announcement: <a href=\"http:\/\/noemata.net\/leapsec26\/callforentries.html\">http:\/\/noemata.net\/leapsec26\/callforentries.html<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Call for entries Deadline: 25 June 2015 :60 LEAP SECOND FESTIVAL 2015 Call for entries: Works lasting one second or less.
