Sweet \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcArt is a non-profit organization operating from a feminist perspective, which is dedicated to the promotion of visual artists through the delivery of regular site-specific exhibitions. On the 5-10 September 2017 Sweet \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcArt will be hosting their first art festival in partnership with Ugly Duck. Femfest will take place at OFF QUAY an 8,000 square foot creative space and one of Ugly Duck\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s beautiful reclaimed venues, situated in the heart of East India Dock, London.<\/p>\n
Sweet \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcArt are seeking artists identifying as any gender whose works are of any media including painting, illustration, sculpture, installation, print, photography, film and performance. We particularly welcome submissions from BAME artists and women of colour. All works must explore the theme of women, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcfemininity\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcfeminine\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 identity. This can be an exploration of the female form, gender identity, feminist issues, social and political issues and constructs or personal accounts and perspectives. We are especially looking for works of art reflecting on the nature of the venue as reclaimed office space and exploring the theme of women reclaiming masculine dominated spaces, or women in the workplace.<\/p>\n
Femfest will be a 5 day celebration including workshops, performance, film and much more! Sweet \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcArt are also be keen to hear from artists who may work in large installation or sculpture or who make interactive artworks as well as wall hung works, to create an immersive and exciting event.<\/p>\n
Artworks will be installed by experienced curators. Invitations, press releases, promotion and opening receptions\/events will be organized to the highest spec. along with the usual Sweet \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcArt freebies and surprises!<\/p>\n
There is no fee to submit your work and those whose work is accepted will be asked to pay an exhibition fee of \u00c2\u00a355. You can read more about our fees and selection process on our website.<\/p>\n
