{"id":9654,"date":"2019-06-04T07:24:37","date_gmt":"2019-06-04T05:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/netex.nmartproject.net\/?p=9654"},"modified":"2019-06-04T07:24:37","modified_gmt":"2019-06-04T05:24:37","slug":"call-unidee-residencies-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/netex.nmartproject.net\/?p=9654","title":{"rendered":"call: UNIDEE residencies 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deadline: 19 June 2019<br \/>\nCall for entries<\/p>\n<p>Unidee And Fondazione Zegna: Call For Workshop For 6 Residency Grants<\/p>\n<p>UNIDEE, Cittadellarte \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Fondazione Pistoletto and Fondazione Zegna welcome your application to participate in Rituals of the contemporary, a residential module conceived by Fiamma Montezemolo.<\/p>\n<p>Residency period: 14th \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 20th July 2019<\/p>\n<p>This module aims to reflect on the notion of the ritual, its current meaning and practice. In the last years many disciplines (religion studies, anthropology, philosophy, art, socio-biology) have approached the ritualistic and its role in making \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcvisible\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 a certain order in a specific context, in showing \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcthe proven way of doing something\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 which is the etymology of the word. As Catherine Bell says, ritualization is &#8220;a way of acting that is designed and orchestrated to distinguish and privilege what is being done in comparison to other, usually more quotidian, activities&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The ritual involves, in general, a series of choreographed pr actices based on images, words, activities, objects, symbols that are organized in a performative act. The ritualistic act requires whomever is involved to cross 3 phases: separation \/ threshold \/ aggregation (V. Turner). The initiated is pushed to \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcplunge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 in a sort of liminal phase in which he\/she is immersed in an anti-structure\/chaos (changing clothes, food, hallucination, dwelling in unusual spaces, loss of usual cultural references, etc.) for a definite period of time and in a specific space in order to re-emerge to a renewed status and way to influence the cosmos.<\/p>\n<p>The participants will be invited to reflect on the ritual and envision their own performative act. They will do so by recreating a \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcrite of passage\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, or \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcseasonal rite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, or \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclife event rite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, or \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcrite of exchange\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 of their own choosing, through an investigation of the ritual in art, focusing the module on contemporary socio-cultural rites in the territory of Trivero and Oasi Zegna. In classic anthropology, the main understanding of the ritual is that the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcliminal phase\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 brings ultimately to an act of reintegration in a certain societal group. In contrast, our main question will be: could an art work make the liminal a more permanent condition and bring us to a new order instead of a preestablished one?
