SPATIAL AUDIO COMPETITION

Based on the reproduction process of the wave field synthesis, speaker arrays generate a sound field in which the sound source can be located much steadier in comparison to conventional audio systems, thus creating a realistic acoustic environment. For this a IOSONO CORE audio processor from Barco will be deployed. This fascinating technology enables artists to place virtual sound sources in space – independently of the speaker system – and for the audience to perceive the sounds accordingly. These object-based, spatial audio mixes were created in the Spatial Audio Workstation (SAW) in Nuendo. On the basis of the original Nuendo project the winning artist of the competition will stage a spatial production of his pre-recorded audio materials in collaboration with experts from IOSONO.

All interested artists can submit their audio concept ideas for the Genius Loci Weimar Festival from 16 March 2016 up to the deadline of 13 April 2016. The winning project will be realised with a prize money of 5,000 Euros and presented during a festival to take place from 12 to 14 August 2016.

The conscious omission of erratic gimmickry and showmanship, intrusive clichés and careless historical retelling.
