Iippe 2017 Berlin – Documentary/Activist Films And Video Art Projects
8th Annual IIPPE Conference – Berlin School of Economic Law, 13-15 September 2017
The International Initiative for the Promotion of Political Economy (IIPPE) is inviting submissions of film and video art projects.
IIPPE is one of the largest international networks of heterodox political economists with a critical approach to neoliberalism. Part of IIPPE’s mission is to develop links between academics, artists, filmmakers and activists who are working for a more just and equal world.
In parallel with the academic conference, IIPPE will feature a screening and discussion programme that relates to the themes discussed in panel talks. Thematic areas can include issues such as the global economic crisis, poverty, migration, gender, development, environment, privatisation, banking and financial fraud, refugees, the rise of the extreme right, armed conflicts, neocolonialism, etc.
Documentary filmmakers and video artists a re invited to submit work of around 30 – 90 minutes duration, which can be screened followed by a discussion. Films which do not have English as their main language must have English subtitles. Work will be screened as a digital video file.
The IIPPE conference provides a unique opportunity for networking, which includes a conference dinner.
IIPPE is independent of any academic institution and entirely funded by presenter’s fees. Conference fees will be waived for filmmakers presenting their work (apart from an €15 reduced IIPPE membership fee). Please note that cost for travel and accommodation can unfortunately not be subsidised by IIPPE.
To submit your work for consideration, please fill in the electronic application form: http://bit.ly/2lF1yBZ. Under the section “Tick the Working Group pertinent to your Proposal” select “Committee on Activism”. After you have done this, please contact Matthias Kispert (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Niels Hahn (email@example.com), with a note about your submission and brief description of your project.
The submission deadline is 1st of April 2017. Submissions must be done via this website to IIPPE.
