9th KALIBER35 Munich International Short Film Festival

The Munich Film Society is pleased to announce the call for entries for the 9th edition of KALIBER35 Munich International Short Film Festival, which will take place from the 19th to the 25th of June 2014 in the Bavarian capital. Filmmakers are invited to submit their films to the International Competition, where 35 selected short films will be shown in five categories named after the five tastes SWEET, SOUR, BITTER, SALTY and UMAMI according to their tone. All directors with a film in competition will be invited to Munich to attend the festival, meet the local audience as well as local and
international film professionals, and compete to win valuable awards in cash, kind or services. The deadline for submissions is the 31st of January 2014.

In order to provide a varied showcase of contemporary trends and visions from all over the world, submissions are open to non-German language films of all genres (fiction, animation, documentary and experimental) from any country. All non-English language films must be provided with English subtitles. So as to appeal the audience with a fresh and original selection, all films submitted must have not been shown in Bavaria in a festival, in a theatre, on television or on the Internet before. For the same reason, only short films produced after the 1st of January 2012 may be submitted. All films should not exceed a length of 15 minutes and should be available for screening as HD video files.

To submit a film, please register at reelport.com: hence you will be guided through all the necessary steps for submission, including the upload of a preview video file. You may also send a DVD preview copy to the address mentioned in the Reelport website. Please note that any preview copy sent directly to the festival will not be considered.

Along with the International Competition, KALIBER35 organizes the
KURZ&KNAPP (SHORT&TIGHT) Kinosportcup: professional as well as amateur filmmakers are challenged to write, shoot, edit and complete a short film in just 35 hours. Everyone is invited and welcome to participate.
