International Call to Chinese women artists anywhere.
The Digital Culture Centre and 5célula arte y comunidad open a call for Chinese artists living in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or any other place in the world to participate in this unique Chinese Women Artists Video Art Festival that will take place in Mexico City in 2015.

We are an international collective of women working to make the Art produced by women visible, and this time we want to make Chinese video art made by women be better known outside its natural geographical environment.
We would love you to share with us the different approaches, perspectives, aesthetics, artistic discourses and issues you work with, as Chinese women with different backgrounds that share the same cultural roots. Your video art works will contribute to enrich the knowledge of Chinese women video art and Chinese female artists in a Western/male Art world.
The Festival Screenings will be in the Centro de Cultura Digital and in alternative venues of the Historical Center of Mexico City. Along with the screenings there will be lectures, workshops and participatory activities all related to China and Chinese Women.
1) Submit:
a. Please send up to 3 video art works via wetransfer,
b. Accompanied by the Entry Form (one for each video)
c. 2 screenshots for each submission (jpg, 800×600 px, 300 dpi) to womenfestival@163.com
d. Videos must be not larger than 2 G.
2) Formats:
a. Minimum size: 720×576 (PAL) or 720×480 (NTSC), HD mpeg2 (DVD), mov (Quicktime, H264 codec only), mp4, wmv (Windows Media), flv (Flash video)
b. There is no limit to duration, and if you have any other kind of work other than video art, (documentary, fiction), please let us know.
3) Requirement:
In case language is used, it must have English subtitles (Spanish would be a plus!).
4) Deadline: April 15, 2015
5) Notification: We will keep you informed about the final program.

Who we are
The Centro de Cultura Digital (Digital Culture Centre) is the Mexican national Centre aimed to the research of digital technology and its influence in the everyday life, interested in a cultural dialogue between contemporary creators and the publics.

5célula arte y comunidad is an international non-profit arts organization dedicated to promote an integrative relationship between art and social transformation, with an emphasis on cross-cultural dialogue. 5célula actively works with artists based in México, the U.S., Latin America and Europe and China.

Curators:
Elizabeth Ross is an artist, art projects manager, socio-cultural agent, curator, and journalist with an international presence. She has pioneered sociocultural processes involving art, research, journalism and community development, persistently searching the intersection between art, environment, memory, feminism, politics and society.
She founds and directs 5célula, a non-profit organization to link art and different communities. She’s a member of the SNCA, Art Creators National System.

Dr. Liu Fan is an artist, critic and curator from China and based in Berlin now. She is a visiting scholar at Free University in Berlin. She has produced many international projects in China and Europe and written articles about Chinese contemporary art. She has also translated many art books into Chinese. Her works has been showed world widely in China, Europe and America.
