EYES ON EUROPE
“Matters of territory/ies”
In 2016, The Eyes launches EYES ON EUROPE, a call for proposals aimed at photographers, videographers, other visual artists, publishers.
Once a year, the EYES ON EUROPE project – which aims at revealing what we might call Europeanity – proposes to take a fresh outlook on Europe.
EYES ON EUROPE is inviting you to become the witnesses and actors of a moving, lively and manifold, curious and unprejudiced Europe.
Every year, the Spring/Summer issue of the magazine The Eyes (theeyes.eu), published during the “Rencontres d’Arles” photography festival, will be dedicated to the chosen portfolios.
The first issue of EYE ON EUROPE will showcase twelve selected portfolios. In order to match the desired aesthetic and visual identity of The Eyes, the subjects will have to follow the theme:
“Matters of territory/ies”
.
As part of the EYES ON EUROPE project, the twelve selected authors will benefit from high exposure:
>
A portfolio in the magazine The Eyes (issue EYES ON EUROPE in June 2016),
>
A presentation at the “Rencontres internationales de la photographie d’Arles” photography festival (July 2016),
>
A dedicated space on The Eyes’ website and associated social network pages.

The EYES ON EUROPE prerequisites for participation are as follows:
>
The EYES ON EUROPE call for proposals is open to professional photographers, art and photography students, or artists of all nationalities,
>
Candidates can submit a project in whatever image format they choose: photograph, video, book or dummy, digital art, etc. (multimedia or video submissions will be presented through augmented reality),
>
Candidates may only submit one project, sent in digital format as a ZIP compressed file and titled as follows: Name of photographer_Name of project,
>
For photography, the proposal should enclose between 10 and 20 pictures,
>
Photographs should be sent as JPGs, videos or other animated supports as MOV or MP4, and dummies and books as PDF prototypes or JPG views,
>
Proposals should also enclose the candidate’s CV (PDF) and a description of their chosen subject (PDF),
>
Candidates will allow The Eyes to publish their work in The Eyes’ EYES ON EUROPE issue (June 2016), to use it as promotional material for the magazine’s publication, and to present it in a projection at the “Rencontres d’Arles” photography festival (July 2016),
>
Candidates are still the owners of their work and remain responsible for all associated publication rights (especially relating to image reproduction rights),
>
By accepting the general terms and conditions, candidates acknowledge that their personal data will be used solely in the context of EYES ON EUROPE and that no personal data shall be made available, passed or sold to any third parties or external persons.

Proposals will be received until February 28th, 2016 (included),

The editorial board of The Eyes, accompanied by international professionals brought in for the 2016 edition of EYES ON EUROPE will go through the selection process in March 2016,
