2016 Grant Program – Le CouveNt

Grant Program Description
The “le CouveNt” Grant for artists encourages the mobility of young artists as well as the expression of cultural diversity. The grant is aimed to worldwide emerging artists, from all disciplines, willing to create new works at “le CouveNt”.

To apply, the artist must have a precise project and commit themselves to execute it during their residency at “le CouveNt ”.

The art works produced during the residency at “le CouveNt “belong to the artist who is engaged to disclosing and introducing their artistic project to an audience in one of the exhibition areas at the end of his/her residency. Le CouveNt will publish a brochure and posters to show proof of the work achieved during the in-training residency

The artist might be requested to introduce their work to visitors & outside the time dedicated to creation, the artist will be called upon to show their work to an audience. Also and upon previous agreement with the artist, meetings and workshops shall be organized for different audiences allowing exchange, and involvement in the creation process.

Application
To be considered for the grant, candidates must fill the application form correctly and provide a letter of motivation explaining the relevancy of their art project in regards to “le CouveNt”.

Videos or large files may be downloaded from websites such as : Dropbox, Yousendit, Mega, Webtransfer or similar websites.
The referenced websites shall be look at only for information purposes but cannot be considered as the main supporting document of the artist’s file.

Type of grant: Creation training
Length: 4 weeks
Period: artists have the choice between two residency periods:

– July 2nd to July 30th
– August 2nd to August 30th

Origin of the candidates: any country without exceptions
Languages: all languages (must be able to communicate in French, English or Spanish)
Age limit: 35 years maximum
Submission deadline: March 21th, 2016
Jury: A jury of renowned artists in one or more of the disciplines concerned, will proceed to the selection of candidates and make their choice amongst the applications on March 31th, 2016.
Application fee: €30 (non refundable)

Content of the Grant Program
​1st Prize – 1 artist with full coverage of:
– Travelling expenses
– Lodging expenses
– Food expenses
– Art materials expenses (up to 200 €)
– Individual room with bathroom
– access to shared kitchen & dining room
– Individual workshop
– Open studio
– Use of Le Couvent’s car

2nd Prize – up to 3 artists with coverage of:
– Lodging expenses
– Food expenses
– Individual room with bathroom
– access to shared kitchen & dining room
– Individual workshop
– Open studio
– Use of Le Couvent’s car

3rd Prize – up to 5 artists with coverage of :
– Lodging expenses : 50%
– Individual room with bathroom
– access to shared kitchen & dining room
– Individual workshop
– Open studio
– Use of Le Couvent’s car
