SUMMER OF ’68

The protests of 1968 comprised a worldwide escalation of social conflicts, predominantly characterized by popular rebellions against military and bureaucratic elites, who responded with an escalation of political repression.

In the socialist countries there were also protests against lack of freedom of speech and violation of other civil rights by the Communist bureaucratic and military elites. In Central and Eastern Europe there were widespread protests that escalated, particularly in the Prague Spring in Czechoslovakia, in Warsaw in Poland and in Yugoslavia. This is also an important time for sexual revolution, female emanzipation, so called “Flower Power”, Music,… This year war a very starting point for many important ideas and communities – until now!

In 2018 we are celebreting it’s 50 years anniversary!

But before, VOS is looking back this half century and asks for digital artworks relating to this theme. What is left in common mind? What were results of this year? And what is the inheritance of this generation?

VOS is looking for any kind of digital artworks that can be embedded in a website.
This is an online / ongoing project by Roland Wegerer (http://vos.rolandwegerer.com)
