Residency at ZK/U Berlin

In the context of its art and research residency programme, ZK/U offers a ‘living & working’ space for artists, scholars and practitioners involved in exploring the idea and reality of “the city”. The programme is open to contemporary artistic positions that are conceptual, interventionist and contextual.

Selected projects are often informed by theoretical and practice-based critiques within the fields of urban research, geography, anthropology, urbanism, architecture and the humanities. With collaborative practices and peer-to-peer learning at its core, the residency is about exchanging with and learning from other artists and practitioners. It is a space for urban experimentation where fellows connect through common themes and interests.
Residents are encouraged to involve themselves with ZK/U’s programme and to propose their own formats.

Within the frame of this Open Call, ZK/U invites applications around it’s current discourses of the conceptual framework and additionally encourages investigations into the following themes:
• alternative practices of knowledge production, mediation and new formats of cross-sectoral conversations
• inclusive modes of engagement in democratic decision making processes and grassroot movements
• connecting global communities through strategies of local non-monetary economies and digital governance
• prototyping digital and spatial infrastructure for a future based on the common good
