2017 edition of International Video Art Festival Transmission
20 – 23 July 2017

TRANSMISSION ART FESTIVAL 2017 invites everyone to submit videos to the 2nd edition of the Festival, which takes place simultaneously in Karlsruhe (DE), Warsaw (PL) and Kassel (DE) in July 2017. Both established artists and new talents are encouraged to submit works on the theme “We Are All in this Together – A Road Map Through a Post-Truth Art World”.

Does art have anything to contribute to the post-truth, post-democracy world? Is it the time for us to start producing noise, politicizing aesthetic practices or just turn full-time towards political activism? In the era of post-truth politics, alternative facts and fake news campaigns undermining our democracies, we would like to invite experimental film makers and video artists to take a stand in the overwhelming ethical ambiguity of our time.

The best videos submitted to our TRANSMISSION ART FESTIVAL open call will be made available through our online platform to an international audience during the festival period. Furthermore, the video works will be screened at selected venues.

All submitted videos are considered by a professional jury. The jury will shortlist the best videos, which will be put into a three-day festival program and awarded with a grand prize and an audience award. The awardees are going to receive a statue of a golden pyramid, which is a reminder of the Karlsruhe pyramid.

Submitted works can be up to 15 minutes long and must be produced in 2015 – 2017. There is no entry fee.

Deadline for submission is 15th of June 2017 at 12 a.m. CEST time.

TRANSMISSION ART FESTIVAL is an independently organized annual festival.

The aim of the festival is to convey contemporary positions of different media and to bring artists from different cities together through cooperation. Each year, the festival’s elements are individually arranged and can include an exhibition, performances, readings, concerts, workshops and a video art festival. The aim of the Festival is to give an insight into the current video art production around the world.

HOW TO SUBMIT

1. UPLOAD your video via WeTransfer https://wetransfer.com/

2. CHECK that your video meets the requirements stated in submission guidelines.

3. COMPLETE the online entry form and read the terms for participation. Please be aware that you need to fill out one entry form for each video you submit.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be notified by email in the beginning of July 2017 if your video has been selected for the shortlist. If so, you are required to submit a trailer (max. 60 seconds) and still images from your video shortly hereafter (deadline and specs to be announced) and an embeddable link to your video online (Vimeo or YouTube)
